“We need to consider what is on our doorsteps” – with those words Lucilla Booyzen CEO of SA Fashion Week kicked off a weekend of interactive instillations at the Mall of Africa as part of the Women’s wear Pop-Up Preview.

From flamboyant folds to princess puffs, bountiful bows and delicate details, the showcased designers did not disappoint.

A departure from the usual straight-walk fashion show involved a revolving circle that provided a 360 degree view of each garment. This enabled a close-up view of the intricacy of each crafted item.

One seldom gets the opportunity to caress one’s items before purchase, or chat directly to the source who created it. The pop-up provided the ideal platform for both of these dreams to become a reality as stands were manned by the designer or creative crew themselves.

This pop-up proved to be a tasty-teaser and I like many others look forward to the full meal at this year’s women’s wear fashion week.
bye for now
